| A follow-up program
is established for each new service team. Monthly follow-up contacts and
quarterly home visits may take place during the first year to ensure that the
dog and recipient are adjusting to their new lives together.
After the first
year, an annual follow-up visit may be made. A follow-up may also be requested
sooner be the recipient. |

Ongoing training for new skills or problem
solving will
be addressed during the follow-up visits as well as care for the service
dog, veterinarian records and any other concerns the new service dog team
has encountered.
It is Carolina
Canines goal to have the best possible matching of service dog/recipient
to ensure the best possible outcome of bonding between the new service dog
team.
This is crucial
to the new team in creating the most independence and best relationship between
the service dog/recipient. It must be a positive experience for the
recipient as well as service dog for the new team to work together and do
so efficiently.
The new experience
of having a service dog and command him/her can be stressful and frustrating
at times until that bond is formed and Carolina Canines will be there all
the way through our ongoing commitment to the new service dog team.
